Russian-American Exchange:
"In March 2011 the U.S. Consulate General in Yekaterinburg in partnership with the City of Yekaterinburg and Museum of Photography "Metenkov House" in Russia and City of San Jose and San Jose State University in the United States launched the Sister Cities artistic project "Yekaterinburg and San Jose Through the Eyes of One Another". The goal of the project is to explore two cities utilizing temporary public art and photography by American artists from San Jose, CA in Yekaterinburg, Russia and Russian photographers from Yekaterinburg, Russia in San Jose, CA. Within the frames of this project, three American photographers - Robin Lasser, Adrienne Pao and Brian Taylor spent 7 days in Yekaterinburg in May 2011 and two Russian photographers from Yekaterinburg spent a week in San Jose, CA in June 2011. The American Consulate in Yekaterinburg contacted the three American photographers in October, 2010 with an invitation to create a body of work in Russia and to host the Russian photographers in the US. The two Russian photographers – Sophia Nasyrova (amateur category) and Denis Tarasov (professional category) were selected for the project by means of a photography contest conducted in Yekaterinburg. The amateur contest was held on the Consulate's Face book page in an effort to include students from Yekaterinburg. Similarly, San Jose State University photography graduate students supported the project. They photographed alongside the Russian team and provided regional interpretation of San Jose."
